Line Checks
The Line Checks feature in Kitchen CUT is part of the Inventory module and allows you to query the current stock level of selected products at any given time. This is particularly useful for spot-checking stock during service or for quick variance investigations.
Line checks have no impact on inventory levels — they are purely a query tool for review and comparison purposes.
You can find this feature by going to:
Inventory > Stocks > Line Checks
Creating a Line Check
-
Select New Line Check.
-
Enter a name for the check.
Tip: Use a consistent naming procedure so your line checks are easily identifiable later. -
Choose a Revenue Outlet.
-
Choose an Inventory Class so the system knows which inventory it is checking against.
-
Ensure there is an open OIC (Opening Inventory Count) for the line check to work.
Adding Items to a Line Check
Once your line check is created:
-
Add products, recipes, or sub-recipes to the check.
-
The system will display the theoretical value for each line — the stock level Kitchen CUT has recorded at that moment in time.
-
Use the data entry boxes to input the actual count of stock you have on-site for comparison.
-
You can select View Result at any time to see the variance between the system’s theoretical stock and your actual count. This will keep the check open for further editing.
Finalising a Line Check
When ready:
-
Click Commit Final Positions to close the check.
-
Once committed, the line check can still be edited if needed.
💡 Best Practices
-
Use a clear and consistent naming convention for your line checks (e.g. Date – Outlet – Shift).
-
Always make sure your OIC is open before starting.
-
Perform line checks at regular intervals for better stock accuracy.
-
Investigate any large variances before committing the check.
-
Remember — line checks will not adjust your inventory levels.

A: You can add products, recipes, and sub-recipes.
Q: I can’t see Line Checks in my account — why not?
A: Not all users have access to this feature. If you would like to enable it, please contact your Account Manager or get in touch with Kitchen CUT Support.
